Dr. David C. Johnson is graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine.  He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY, a premier hospital for orthopaedic care in the United States and abroad. link to USNews article >>

During his residency, Dr. Johnson treated many elite level athletes including care for Major League Baseball’s New York Mets and the NFL’s New York Giants.  After residency, he attended the world renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, CO where he completed a shoulder, knee and sports medicine fellowship. While at the Steadman Hawkins clinic, Dr. Johnson had extensive experience in treating elite level athletes including care for Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies, the NFL Denver Broncos, and the United States Ski and Snowboard Team.

Dr. Johnson has been in practice in Northern Virginia for the past 5 years.  He has been a consultant for the Washington Nationals and has been a team physician for the minor league Potomac Nationals.  He has provided team physician services for many area high school, developmental and club teams. 

His practice and research interests focus on sports medicine care for the recreational as well as the professional athlete.  Dr. Johnson has published numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters on orthopaedic and sports related injuries.
